Travel Diet Secrets: How to Join my Exclusive Mile High Club
Travel Diet Secrets: How to Join my Exclusive Mile High Club…by Josh Schlottman
So I’m heading off to Seattle today and I’ve been going into overdrive getting all my snacks ready to go. I absolutely hate eating airport food and all the junk in most restaurants so I take my travel diet into my own hands.
Instead of paying $$ for overpriced junk food in the airport I’m snacking on some of my favorite healthy foods, while keeping lean at the same time.
A lot of my high end clientele travel a lot and one of their biggest concerns is nutrition and how to have a healthy travel diet. Most people when they travel just pick up meals to eat here and there, but the real secret is preparation in getting all your healthy snacks and drinks ready to go.
The biggest key in my travel diet are foods that are lean and will last a long time. Unfortunately I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way that will make you think twice about what foods to bring on your travel diet.

For example, I learned my lesson about bring soft fruits and leaving them in my backpack for too long. It’s only a matter of time before they end up smooshed up and all over your backpack…along with everything else in it. So a big revelations to me, as obvious as it sounds now, is to pack some soft fruits such as apples, bananas, pears, etc. and put them in the top of your backpack or bag and eat them first.
Another HUGE favorite of mine when it comes to snacks to bring for my travel diet is jerky and I’m not just talking about old school Slim Jim’s here, I’m talking Natural Salmon and Turkey Jerkey without any preservatives. A lot of the more mainstream beef jerky’s have a LOTS of sodium, preservatives, nitrates, etc. and it pretty much defeats the purpose of eating healthy.
Instead I prefer either this awesome tasting Salmon and Turkey Jerky from this company called Snackmasters.
I also bring my Sigg 1L water bottle and fill it up with water before heading out to the airport, you can’t bring it through security with the water in it, so I usually pound it all before. And once I get over to the other side, I’ll buy a water bottle and just refill it…much better option than getting sucked into sodas and smoothies (aka a “fat persons milk shake”).

I also like to bring along a little collapsable cooler that I can put things in like yogurt and a couple of sandwiches. This way I can keep some of the more perishable stuff cool, because who really wants to eat hot yogurt….bad idea! It’s also nice to not have your all natural peanut butter and jelly sandwich look like Snooki just sat on it.
And I ALWAYS start my day off with a healthy meal before I head out to the airport, no matter how early I’m leaving. This will help me set the tone for how I’m going to eat for the rest of the day and if I start off eating some horribly crappy breakfast from McDonald’s then you know the rest of the day I’m going to pig out like my plane was going down.
I also do everything I can to do workouts while traveling and always bring along my TRX for my hotel gym workouts. For more on the TRX check out my TRX Suspension Trainer Review.

And those are my travel diet secrets and now you know everything you need to join my exclusive mile high club. Now there’s really no excuse when it comes to getting your travel diet on point so you don’t pack on the lbs. while you’re away. You might not have the home field advantage but by preparing you can stay lean and keep burning fat.
