7 Metabolism Boosting Foods That Blast Belly Fat

Ready to uncover my 7 metabolism boosting foods so you can burn more stomach fat?

Ever hear people talking about their metabolism but you don’t know what the heck that is?  If you’re not sure what it is your metabolism is basically how efficiently your body burns calories.  The better the metabolism you have the more calories you will burn and therefore burning more fat.

Will These Metabolism Boosting Foods Help?

There are some factors that affect your metabolism rate such as age, sex, genes and lean body mass.  As you age your metabolism will naturally decline, if you’re a male then you’ll most likely burn more fat at rest and the more muscle you have the higher your metabolic rate will be.

Too many people unfortunately also blame their genes on their slow metabolism and why they’re still fat.  But the truth is that even though genes do play a role everybody can improve their metabolism by taking in the right foods, exercise and lifestyle.  So stop playing that blame game!

Know let’s take a look at some of my top metabolism boosting foods that will help you lose lower belly fat so you can walk on the beach this summer.

My 7 Metabolism Boosting Foods

1.  Green Tea

There was study that found those who drank 3-5 cups of green tea daily actually lost 5% of their body weight.  Green tea is packed with powerful flavonoids and antioxidants that will also help to kick out chronic diseases in addition to boosting your metabolism.  Of course I wouldn’t just drink green tea and hope for a miracle to happen but drinking it daily or taking an extract is going to be another spoke in the wheel towards your body transformation.

I also drink green tea 1-2x’s per day and it has been shown to detoxify your body and inhibit the bad bacteria. It triggers your body to burn fat and activates your metabolism. I’ve also found the natural caffeine boost to help improve my productivity as well.

2.  Almonds

Increasing your nut intake will help slow your blood sugar as well as help to boost your metabolism. It’s one of my favorite metabolism boosting foods because  their packed with healthy monounsaturated fats and they also taste too darn good.

A Purdue study found those who ate tree nuts such as almonds increased the metabolic rate of the group and consuming them resulted in greater weight loss than those who didn’t eat them.  Just be careful not too eat too many of them because nuts do have a higher caloric content. Eating a handful a day or a 1-3 Tbsp of natural almond butter is what I recommend.

3. Eggs

I’ve eaten 3-4 whole eggs every morning for years now and I’ve never been leaner.  My cholesterol is more than healthy and I literally laugh at people who throw their yolks down the garbage disposal.  If you’re unsure about the whole egg yolks vs. egg whites battle check out my blog post.

Eating a high protein breakfast in general is going to boost your metabolism and I’ve found eating whole eggs to be the easiest and most efficient way to do so.  They have a good amount of protein in them and I usually always recommend them to my clients who are on the run to boil them for 7 minutes the night before and stick them in the fridge until the next morning.

4. Salmon

What more could you ask for in a metabolism boosting food that is packed with protein and loaded with healthy omega-3 fatty acids?  If you’re not already taking an omega-3 supplement (which would be in your benefit to do so) then you should be eating plenty of wild caught salmon.  The omega-3’s help to balance out the over-abundance of omega-6’s in the body which will reduce inflammation while also burning belly fat.

Unfortunately most people shy away from fats even though they’re totally healthy because your body needs these fats.  For more of the benefits of taking an omega-3 fish oil supplement take a look at my blog post on how to find the best one.

5. Hot Peppers

Hot chili peppers have been found to be effective for weight loss because they cause a thermogenic effect in your body meaning they increase the heat.  Just make sure your stomach can take the heat or else you’re going to be in a load of trouble later on.  If you’re not used to eating hot peppers I would work you way up from the milder ones such as jalapenos to the hot habaneros.

6. Wild Blueberries

Berries, especially the wild blueberry are very powerful antioxidants that kill off the damage causing free radicals that are having a party in your body.  The reason we want to fight against free radicals is they’ll cause damage to cells leading to fat gain, limited muscle growth and can even cause diseases.

I usually mix a 1/2 cup of wild blueberries into my super shake every morning and it seems to do the trick, not to mention these bad boys taste good!

7. Probiotics

Probiotics are the tiny live bacteria that naturally occur in your gastrointestinal tract. Having more of these tiny little guys help food pass through you efficiently and also improve nutrient absorption.

They can lower chronic inflammation in addition to supporting your body’s ability to produce brain neurotransmitters. In other words it’ll make you smarter!

1 Kinda Weird Metabolism Boosting Food

This one might sound a little weird at first but bee pollen has been found to boost your metabolism by normalizing chemical imbalances which are causing abnormal weight gain. Bee pollen from honeybees is naturally low in calories and it contains 15% of its weight in Lecithin.  The nutrient Lecithin is going to be beneficial as it will help break down your fats and help prevent them from being stored as fat.  I usually put a tablespoon in my super shake in the morning.

I hope you got something out of this post on my 7 best metabolism boosting foods and now it’s to take some action by eating them!
